WE ARE ALL LEARNERS
We started the ILR Moose Cree project, our primary focus is on offering Cree language classes to anyone interested.
We are not fluent speakers and do not consider ourselves teachers, but rather coordinators. As coordinators, we decided to organize a space where learners could connect with each other, share resources, ask questions, and seek support for their language learning journey.
We create resources, worksheets, and lesson plans based on what we are covering in class each week. These are uploaded after class and can be found here: Resources.
REVITALIZATION
The resources we use have strict rules for grammar. We follow these rules with great intent. The pronunciation of each syllable sound is also based on strict rules. Some of the words and sentences may sound different.
SAFE
Everyone learns at a different pace and style. The coordination team understands and supports this, we all walk at different speeds. The virtual classes and in-person workshops are conducted at a pace that fits the collective while supporting the individual. The content is the focus, the task is to have each learner experience it.
