Indigenous Language Reclamation (ILR)
When we started developing ililîmowin resources, we wanted to encourage people with the learning and reclaiming of their language. Supporting these efforts remains one of our foremost priorities today.
As coordinators, we recognized the opportunity for aaniskohtaaw to branch out beyond virtual ililîmowin classes. For continuity, we still wanted to manage any content and resources we create for these classes and gatherings under the “ILR” label.
We believe that language learning is just a small part of language reclamation. We are learners who support other learners by providing a safe space to speak, learn, and ask questions without judgement.
